Well, the Tiny Volcano crew are about to step into "Steely Dan country" as we plan on tracking a tune for an upcoming Steely Dan Tribute CD. The boys and I are still negotiating which song to do, but it looks like the main contenders are "FM", "True Companion" or "Bad Sneakers".

We are all looking forward to jumping in fast to record the song-and attempt to arrange the song in a "TV" sorta way.

Also, I'm really excited to announce our first guest player for the forth coming Tiny Volcano CD. New pal "Zak Nilsson" -son of Harry Nilsson (one of my personal favorite song writing hero's) and talented drummer -currently playing with the infamous band "The Records", Zak has agreed to play drums/percussion on a melodic tune called "Jaded" which very much pays homage to his dad in a melodic way.

Jon has been mastering the ukulele the past few months (he's really quite good) and he's been buying them up on Ebay, nice collection going.

Tony is recovering nicely from his former illness and ready to "rock and roll", I'm looking forward to getting him in the studio to track some of his songs, as both Tony and Jon are excellent song writers.

Dana has been very busy with his band "Jet City Fix" and he recently played a gig in New York at the legendary CBGB's.

That's it for today, I'll post again in a few days or whenever something cool develops -worth posting.

Scott

Additional: Just finished tracking a song for an independent film to be shown at a Seattle Film Festival. The tune was needed for a scene that demanded something "happy go-lucky" ala Herman's Hermits, 60's shtick.

I will most likely post the song "Probably Just as Well" to the Yahoo group soon enough, some will probably get a good laugh from it    :)

04.06.05

Well, we posted half dozen remix versions of a few select tunes from the CD to the Yahoo site (for those of you curious to listen).

Also, I guess I should clarify on this "two Tiny Volcano CD thing". Well, Scott has been working on a Tiny Volcano CD in secret (not really), actually - since he was the chief song writer for the debut project-he still has way too many's songs in his backlog -which need to be set free or DIE! Too over the top? Sorry. Anyway, there will be allot of acoustic stuff and ballads and dittys and so on, of course ALL the TV guys will be playing on this one-but not as consistently as the debut. And then there's the OTHER Tiny Volcano cd that's in progress as well. Tiny Volcano welcomes a new member, a real drummer's drummer and all around cool guy "Joey Viola"! Our resident bass player "Tony Cooper" has known Joey since the high school days, and they click very well musically.

And since Tiny Volcano really consists of THREE songwriters, we decided that we must do a TV cd that will showcase all of the bands talent (cos there's plenty to go around!)

Tony and Jon are both really good writers, so this will be fun to do their songs as well as a few co-written tunes as well. Both cd's will offer a massive variety of influence and styles, yet still keep the pure pop sensibilities of the debut.

We look forward to posting a few teaser tracks in the near future, so keep an eye on the Yahoo group for that.

Also, our good friends "Vanilla" are near completion of their debut Cd (which is killer!), they have asked Scott to mixed the balance of the cd and do some post preduction as well. That cd should be available this summer, probably late June or early July! We will post links to any songs posted for stream or download. You can hear their epic track "Black Saturday" on www.popbang.com       (ETA: November 2005)

Still slaving away on rehearsing, tracking and mixing ...... I could mix for years, and I probably will! TV is in the studio this weekend to track our inspired version of George Harrison's "All Thing's Must Pass", this will be included on yet another Harrison tribute thing. Details to follow ..release dates and so on.

FRIENZ:

Our good pal and the 5th Tiny person "Andrea Perry" is working on a new project. She say's this one will be a bit more folky. Well, more like a bit of folk and allot of her special pop persona ----should be a killer CD!

Also, Kirk Adams just released a new pop jem at the start of summer. A very consise and clean recording, excellent writing and vocal stuff happening here ... I encourage all to check his site out (and Andrea's for that matter).

Our old music chum "Andy Thomspon" said he landed a dream job. He now writes tunes for Puffy Ami Yumi, and writes with that OTHER mega talented Andy ... Sturmer (Jellyfish). Nice gig, "sigh".

I would also check out Jim Boggia's new Cd. I've heard a few tunes via his MySpace.com site, and damn! There are two solid winner's posted to play.
